In the past, a had a regular series called “Thrifting Thursday” and it really was just and show + tell of all the things I had found thrifting, antiquing and garage sale-ing. But, recently I asked my Instagram friends to let me know what it is they want to see more of on my blog. And the two most requested topics were pictures of my home and all the things I find thrifting. So, I’m giving the people what they want! Let’s try this again.

My hope in sharing what I find thrifting will inspire you to go out there and hunt for inexpensive treasures. I firmly believe that a beautiful home and interesting spaces, don’t have to cost a fortune to decorated. So, much of what fills our rooms, decorates the shelves and hangs on the walls of our home cost less then a Starbucks drink. And honestly I love to go to thrift stores, antique malls and flea markets. If I’m feeling creatively drained, it’s the easiest way to refuel me.

Sometimes I find big furniture pieces, but more often it’s just weird little bits and pieces. Actually, most of the dishes and glasses I use for photoshoots are usually thrifted. It the best way to keep my costs down and also find unique pieces you aren’t going to see in everyone else’s images.

I’ve quickly become a huge fan of incense. Not just an incense, there’s really just one that I LOVE, Blackbird’s Tenoversix. (I buy it at my favorite local florist, House of Flowers). It’s like a special treat in my day when I get to burn this scent. It reminds me of my years in Yemen and my mind always wonders to adventures in the old city of Sanaa. When we were in Idaho this Summer, I found this little brass piece at an antique mall for $6. An incense cone fits in it perfectly and now when the smoke streams out of it, I can’t help but pause and watch it.

I also found the black platter that everything is sitting on at my local Goodwill for just $2.99. I do not think it is old, but I just liked it and look, I’m already using it on my kitchen table.

Somewhere in between Waterton Lakes National Park and Glacier National Park, I found a quirky little antique store in the middle of nowhere Montana. There I found this awesome brass desk calendar. I believe it’s from the 40s. There is a small sliding knob on the back that allows you to set the month, any month of any year. How cool is that?  This little piece set me back $10, and it was worth every penny. I know I’m going to love this for years and years to come. And it’s definitely going to sit on my new desk.

And finally, I found this cute little cane stool in Idaho for $18. It’s in perfect condition and really has the prettiest bent legs. I bought it knowing that it would make a perfect little plant stand, and look, it does!
